\ud83d\udce6The transport footprint <\/strong>It's the part of a product's carbon footprint that comes from moving it from where it's made to where it's used: factory to warehouse, from there to a store or your home.<\/em><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It depends on three factors<\/strong>the distance traveled <\/em>(kilometers), the mode of transport<\/em> (truck, van, train, boat, plane) and what weighs<\/em> and it takes the package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simple rule: the less weight and volume per unit, the smaller the footprint per order, especially in the so-called \u201clast mile.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\uddeeHow to estimate simply:<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Approximate emissions<\/strong> = Weight (in tons) \u00d7 Distance (in km) \u00d7 Mode Factor (g CO\u2082e per t\u00b7km).
This \u201cmode factor\u201d varies by transport. To illustrate the method, let's use 100 g CO\u2082e\/t\u00b7km as a road example. It is not an absolute figure; it serves to explain the calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Illustrative example<\/strong> (with our calculation assumptions):
\u2013 Liquid detergent (2 L): estimated total shipping weight 2.2 kg (product + bottle + box).
0.0022 t \u00d7 800 km \u00d7 100 g \u2248 176 g CO\u2082e per unit transported.
- Detergent strips (80 washes): for our calculations, we use 150 g per unit (0.15 kg).
0.00015 t \u00d7 800 km \u00d7 100 g \u2248 12 g CO\u2082e per unit.
With these guiding assumptions, the strip format decreases by approximately 90%<\/mark> or more the transport emissions per order. Actual values depend on distances, final weights, and carrier operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultra-concentrated product<\/strong>We don't transport water. Same effectiveness with much less mass per wash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minimalist packaging<\/strong>lightweight packaging and no heavy plastics. Less material, less weight and less filler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More efficient operations<\/strong>The compact size facilitates storage, order preparation, and better load density on last-mile routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actual weight vs. volumetric weight
Many carriers charge based on whichever is greater: actual weight (what the scale reads) or volumetric weight (what it occupies: length \u00d7 width \u00d7 height divided by a coefficient). By occupying very little space, the straps avoid penalties for high volume and improve logistical efficiency per order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
